"My husband and I just celebrated my birthday today with the Sunday Brunch at the American House. We really enjoy everything about it! A substantial variety of foods (omelettes, carved ham and roast beef, best ever Belgian waffles () and so many additional choices), exceptional service, and non stop coffee. Love the dining area and the real tablecloths! We try to get there from Springville a few times a year and we are always very pleased. Well done, everyone! And an extra big 'THANK YOU' as my "roll of the dice", (landing a pair) entitled me to a complimentary brunch! Happy Birthday to me! We'll be back! "

"Apparently they were not expecting patrons for dinner at 4:30 as there was only one waitress on. She was very pleasant, but obviously overwhelmed. The food was hit or miss depending on what you had. The poutine was good, as was the fried cauliflower. The salad bar was very good, as was my husband's prime rib. My broiled shrimp were way over cooked and fairly tasteless. The beef on weck had some sort of very hot spice on the roll, which made it impossible to eat. My grandson 's grilled cheese was okay. Not the worst meal we have ever had and not the best. Would I make a special trip to come here, probably not."

"We visited the hotel for Sunday brunch. We were happily surprised at the amount of different varieties of food that they had to offer us. There was pancakes, waffles, bacon, sausage, fresh made omelettes, sirloin tips in gravy, biscuits and gravy, fresh cut roast beef, and ham, full salad bar, soups, deserts and pastries. Very reasonable price and food was fantastic. Stephanie the owner and Pat (Stephanie's mother) make you feel very welcome. Will definitely do the brunch again. Thank you."

"Nice place to eat, headed back home to Pennsylvania and needed some food before hitting the road again. Took a little time for the food to come out. I had the Phlly cheese wrap and my husband had beef on wick. Very nice proportions, food was good and would stop here again when in the area."

"Our waitress was amazing. Always checking in. Ruben was great but Bourbon Molasses wings crushed it. Out of this world flavor. If you are going through Angelica... stop here and have these wings!!! Great rustic hotel atmosphere!"

"This is my third time in here, twice we've had the fish fry, and it's been really good! Ask for extra crispy, we didn't, and it was crispy, but our dining guest said the previous week that hers was super crispy. I could not finish all my food. They give you salad and soup bar first and you could fill up just on that. So plan on taking a lot of your food home, unless you're a big eater. I love to come right when they open so that the salad bar is super fresh. They start serving dinners at 4 PM. If you happen to be in the area early you can stop in to the bar and get a drink, then go sit at four p.m. Their soups tend to be really good. Both times I've tried both of the soups. Their salad is just iceberg, would love some different greens in there; hint, hint, hint."

"UPDATE 11 MONTHS LATER: STILL the biggest and best Lobster Tail dinner EVER! The tail was sweet and succulent and cooked to perfection. Real mashed potatoes and gravy on the side as well. The Stone Soup was to die for! Look up the story behind that wonderful starter! Salad bar with delicious rolls was included with our dinners. The spouse had the Teriyaki Salmon and described it as "sublime". Stephanie, the owner goes out of her way to provide a wonderful fine dining experience at this gem spot in Angelica, NY!!! Still 5 stars here!!! ***** We came for their giant lobster tail dinner. The meal was spectacular starting with being greeted by the owner herself! She was warm, pleasant and informative. Beth our server was kind and efficient and helped these two old folks celebrate their wedding anniversary in style! Lavinia got the buffet special and raved about the lemon-pepper fish and the ham, turkey and beef, all carved to order in the dining room! The soup, salad, and desserts were all home made and were glorious! I opted for the ginormous lobster tail and homemade mashed potatoes with gravy. The tail was the largest I've ever seen and was cooked to perfection. This was the "fine dining" experience we were looking for while supporting local business owners. A wonderful historical ambience here and well worth a stop for a drink or wing or a full on top-notch meal. A wonderful gem in the quiet hamlet of Angelica, New York in Allegany County!!! 5 stars!!!"
